Let the country be split into four regions so that we can easily identify the exciting activities one can engage in once they are in Uganda.
The Central Region.
Experience L.Victoria. Lake Victoria is the second largest fresh water lake in the world. Enjoy excursions on the lake through boat cruises and sport fishing. L.Victoria is home to the delicious tilapia which is a delicacy among the locals. And flowing right out of L.Victoria is the majestic Nile River. The Nile River is the second longest river in the world. The Nile River is fast and furious. The thrill seekers, who want to experience the Nile can partake in white water rafting and bungee jumping right on the river itself.
Kampala City, which is the capital of Uganda, is a bustling metropolis that showcases the touch of the colonial era through the Uganda Museum and also modernity through modern city amenities. We encourage all visitors to take a tour of Kampala City to experience the sights, sounds and tastes.
Uganda does not shy away from bits of it’s dark past for example through the Namugongo Matyrs Shrine where Christian believers were martyred because of their faith.
The Western Region.
The Western Region in Uganda is characterized by beauty and beasts. The beauty is from the scenic views from the forests and the gently undulating mountains. The western region is also a region of uniqueness. This is the only place in the world where one can find mountain gorillas in their natural habitat. This is at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. And when you look up into the trees, there is a high chance you may not see a bird but a lion. Come and marvel at the tree climbing lions at the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The skies in the western region are soared by birds of all sizes and of all magnificent colors.
Experience the culture of the Batwa People also known as “The Keepers of the Forest”. This is the last surviving tribe of the pygmies in the Great Lakes Region. Experience this unique culture when you visit the Rwenzori region in Uganda.
Scale the great heights of Mt. Rwenzori and experience the snowcapped peaks of the imposing mountain. Ascend to the Magheritta peak, the highest peak on the Rwenzori Mountains.
The Northern Region.
This is majorly a region of savannah terrains. And with the savannah comes great beasts like elephants and hippos and big cats like the lion (king of the jungle), the leopard and the “blink and you will miss it” cheetah. Predominantly sunny weather all year round, the northern region can be visited at any time of the year.
With jaw dropping sceneries at the Murchison Falls National Park, get captivated by the natural beauty Uganda has to offer. Flora and fauna is plenty in this region.
Scale Mt. Moroto and get to enjoy the naturally occurring beauty on the sides of the mountain.
Again, there is a heavy colonal presence that existed in Uganda and this is evidenced by Fort Patiko which shows the style and culture of British Colonial rule.
Eastern Region
The Nyero Rock paintings are beautiful artistic paintings that are found in Eastern Uganda. History states that this work of art was created in the Later Iron Age but Legend has it, it was the home of the gods of the area with the locals paying homage at this place. And it is said, voice and music can be heard coming out of this area during some nights.
Once you have been fascinated by the history and Legend of Nyero Rock paintings, you can experience the magical Sipi Falls. This is a collection of three falls with one of the falls having a drop of 100m.
While you marvel at the Sipi Falls, please feel free to order a fresh cup of the world famous Bugisu Arabica Coffee. This is the coffee that grows on the slopes of Mt. Elgon.
Uganda is a country of unbounded beauty and a whole host of exciting activities to create memories that will last a life time. Please check out our recommendations on the Kampala Forest Resort website.
